Open to new ideas?

Have you ever been to the moon? Me neither! But, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, David Scott, Charles Duke and Harrison Schmitt have. Why? They were open to new ideas. Sameness could be the death of all of us! None of us are living in the movie, Groundhog Day. So, don’t act like you are!

Some traditions are worth hanging on to: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and the Fourth of July! While other traditions need to be kicked out the front door: Having turkey for the holidays, ham for Easter and potato salad on the Fourth of July. Doing the laundry on Saturday, going to church on Sunday and taking a trip to the store on Monday for groceries needs a little change.

Being open to new ideas can change a lot in that first paragraph. Also, it could change a lot in your relationships, too! Be open to new relationships and new ideas in your existing ones. Here are a few simple, not so crazy ideas to be open to that will get you started:

  • Take a different route home from work.
  • Go to the store on a different day of the week. To spice it up, pick a different time of day to go.
  • Instead of having a movie night, hide the remote and have a game night. There are a ton of good games to choose from. If you tell your friends to bring a game ‘they’ like, be open to new ideas, you may like it, too!
  • Make a new friend. Who knows, being open to new friendships may lead you to the friend you’ve been searching for your whole life.

Be open to new ideas and new people! This may, in fact, be your new tradition.
